Children's Specialists full-service pediatric Respiratory Medicine Division and Cystic Fibrosis Center specializes in diagnostic testing and care for all respiratory diseases of infants, children and teenagers and continues through the transition into adulthood for cystic fibrosis patients. All individuals who provide diagnostic or therapeutic respiratory care have appropriate qualifications and training. Practitioners and staff include board certified pediatric pulmonologists, a dietitian/nutritionist, a respiratory medical social worker, a respiratory care practitioner, a genetic counselor, pharmacists, a nurse coordinator, a pediatric nurse practitioner, a research nurse, and a clinical coordinator.
Common referrals to our services are for asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, infant apnea, sleep apnea, chronic cough, recurrent pneumonia, pulmonary tuberculosis, stridor, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, congenital anomalies of the respiratory tract, wheezing, diffuse lung disease, and others.
The Respiratory Medicine Division provides patient consultation and management expertise to physicians. It also serves as a community resource by meeting the educational needs of families. Diagnostic tests are provided Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and inpatient care is available on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week.
